Free Months Are Real. So Is the $149 That Follows Them.

Pay one annual fee — $99 — for registered agent representation in Montana. The address goes on your filings, legal mail gets scanned same-day, and we remind you before state deadlines.

Our interest in your decision is direct and worth naming immediately. Montana Registered Agent.co earns $99 a year from every appointment it holds, and this page exists to win one. Bizee's numbers were not supplied by us: they are the company's published figures as recorded in a July 2026 review.

The Bundle Has Genuine Value

Bizee, formerly trading as Incfile, includes registered agent coverage inside its LLC formation packages. The included stretch runs from three months on the entry tier up to twelve months at the top. For anyone forming a Montana company regardless, that is a cost avoided rather than a discount promised, and it deserves acknowledgment before any objection.

The Structure Behind It

Two facts govern what happens next.

The rate that follows is $149 a year. That is the standalone price once the included window closes, and it repeats for the life of the entity.

The date is personal to you. A three-month window and a twelve-month window expire in different quarters, and yours depends on the package purchased and the day the formation was filed. We make no claim about how the transition is communicated, because we have no way to verify it. The verifiable part is that a date exists, it is specific to your order, and tracking it is your responsibility.

Montana adopted the Model Registered Agents Act, and the definitions it carries at Mont. Code Ann. § 35-7-102 recognize two kinds of agent. A commercial registered agent is one carried on the register the Secretary of State maintains for firms doing this professionally. A noncommercial one is an individual or an entity serving here as the agent for service of process. Either satisfies Montana.

What Montana will not accept is a post office box standing alone where a street address belongs. The entry on file has to be a genuine Montana street address, or a rural route box number, which is the whole substance of what any provider in this market is actually selling.

That requirement carries extra weight in this state specifically. Montana holds a large population of limited liability companies whose owners live elsewhere, and when nobody connected to the business keeps a Montana address, the agent's office is the company's only location inside state lines. Every notice the Secretary of State sends arrives at one place.

What the $99 Includes

  • Our Montana street address on your filings, with yours kept off the public record
  • Service of process scanned on the day it arrives, then emailed straight to you
  • Portal access to the complete document history, from any device
  • Advance notice of the April 15 annual report deadline
  • General mail scanned at a flat $15 per item, disclosed here rather than on an invoice
  • No renewal step up, ever

$99 is not the minimum available in this market. BetterLegal advertises $90 a year. Among the lowest published rates in Montana, with no expiry attached to it, is the claim we will defend and the only one we make.

Montana Mechanics for a Bizee Handover

The instrument is the Statement of Change, and one filing records a replacement agent, a replacement registered office, or the two of them together. It carries no form number. Montana stopped accepting paper business filings in 2017 and never numbered the electronic replacements, so there is nothing to download and nothing to post.

Where it goes: biz.sosmt.gov, the state's filing site, which an ePass Montana credential unlocks. The Business Services Division does the processing.

What it costs: nothing. The state's published fee schedule shows no amount beside that filing.

Montana expects the seat filled continuously, so the enrollment precedes the filing and the Bizee account closes only after the record updates. In practice that means four steps in a fixed order. Sign up here so there is an agent who has agreed to serve. Enter our name and Montana street address on the statement. Submit it and watch your entity record until the new name appears. Then close the old subscription, and not a day earlier. Our change of agent walkthrough covers each field.

The free filing changes how you should treat that expiry date. Because the state charges nothing and imposes no window, moving early costs precisely as much as moving late, which is to say nothing at all. The end of the bundled months is not a deadline with a penalty behind it. It is simply the day a $149 charge would start, and you are entitled to decide about it beforehand.
